Susan is out of his element, not knowing what he can do to help his brother. It's not often that his age is a problem for him, or that he even gives it much thought, but it does mean he's never been the one giving comfort, and it makes him frustrated and upset that he can't help Lauren. He just keeps hugging him, leaning his head on him.
